Milk Kefir SCOBY and Artists' Book Outdoor Offering is an ongoing interactive component involving sharing SCOBYs (Symbiotic Colonies of Bacteria and Yeast), free and accessible to the public. This is my statement of providing free holistic microbial medicine in a capitalist system where quality healthcare is unaffordable and unattainable for the majority.

Several scientific studies have shown that gut dysbiosis, through infection or use of antibiotics, causes worsening severity of symptoms and/or leads to long-term disorders. Studies have also shown that by expanding the diversity and number of beneficial microbes in the microbiome, one is able to recover faster and with fewer long-term symptoms. I hope to help people build up their immune systems with beneficial bacteria.

This project began in October 2021 and was funded by a grant from the New York City Artist Corps.
